Have a good Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Lemon Curd Tarts

It is now December, which usually means baking mince pies, sausage rolls and other festive goodies (coming soon!).

Last week I made lemon curd and decided that Lemon Curd Tarts were a must (another favourite of Nigel's, but then what isn't!).

Enjoy!

Feedback is always appreciated as this gives me an idea of which recipes are best.

Halloween

Happy Halloween!

It's Halloween and it's Friday so the baking comes in the form of Witches Fingers (no pumpkin!).

They really are edible even if they look awful!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Last week I did not post as people do not seem to be responding.  Having said that, Alex did post a comment, using the previous week's blog.  So, thank you Alex!

I also thank Marjorie for the handcrafted gift which she sent.

Continuing in the Autumnal theme, this week I have made Pumpkin Choclate Chip Muffins (a favourite of our family and their friends).

Take the time to drop by the blog and leave a comment and perhaps a request.

Enjoy!

Pumpkin Cupcakes

It is October already, the month of squash and pumpkin feature predominantly in both baking and cooking.  That said, today for your enjoyment I have baked pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese icing.

Date Squares

This week I have made Date Squares (aka Matrimonial Cake).  These are always popular at home (as is all the baking!).

The cooler weather is here, let me know if there is any baking (other than pumpkin) that you associate with this time of year!

Chewy Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies

Friday soon comes around.  This week Chewy Chocolate Gingerbread Cookies are on the menu (something I usually reserve for Christmas when I make them as gifts!).

Your waistline will get a break next week as Nigel will not be in the office next Friday (26th September).

I can only assume by the lack of response to the "blog" that no one has any requests (requests are best delivered via the blog, otherwise they may be filtered).  Do drop by, leave me a message and you never know, you may actually be the lucky blogger (I may bake using your favourite ingredient).

Enjoy!

Chocolate Drizzled Orange Cake

This week I have made an Orange Cake, which is glazed and then drizzled with chocolate (seems to be a favourite ingredient!).

As usual, you are invited to let me know if there is anything in particular that you like, you never know, you may be a lucky blogger.

Individual Carrot Cakes

This week I have baked individual  iced carrot cakes.  This way there is no dispute as to who has the largest piece of cake as they are all fairly even in size.

Let me know what you favourite cake or ingredient is and you never know,  you could be lucky, I may actually bake your favourite next time.

Most of you should, by now, know the blog address, if not, ask!

Peach Pie Muffins

Last week I made Apple Pie muffins, which were very good, although they actually never made it to the office as Nigel was ill at home.  This week I have made Peach Pie Muffins for your enjoyment, although quantities are very limited!

I was extremely disappointed on Monday that no one saved me a piece of cheesecake (my favourite food group!).

Enjoy the muffins and do drop by the blog, leave a comment and let me know what you think (by now everyone should have the blog address, if not, ask!)

Almond Slices

Today's treat is Almond Slices, a very difficult one for Nigel to get out of the house.  There was much opposition from  our daughter, Laura.

Unless I hear, via the blog (www.ratemycake.blogspot.com) that you are in the office next week, there will be no baking for three weeks due to holidays.

Remember to visit the blog and leave a comment.  Visiting the blog is the only way to request your favourite!

Carrot Cake

First things first!  Just because there is no Poll does not mean that you are unable to vote or comment, please give me feedback by leaving a comment on the blog (click where it says "cookie crumbs"), remember, if you request it, I may just bake it!

This week's cake is a carrot cake with orange icing.  It  is now becoming very difficult for Nigel to smuggle cake out of the house without meeting objections from our daughter (and our son when he finds out!).  As Nigel is apparently not allowed to leave the office with anything but an empty cake box, the cake either has to incur LAT (that is Laura Added Tax) before departure, or I have to bake two cakes (as I did yesterday).

Enjoy!

Strawberry Rhubarb Coffee cake

First of all, from now on there will be no voting section as I understand that there are difficulties with this. Having said that, it does not mean that you will be unable to vote. Leave a comment on the blog.

Although Elisa did request that she was the 'lucky blogger' this week there was no mention of what she would like so, technically there is no 'lucky blogger', although I do know what Elisa likes and therefore have made a Strawberry Rhubarb Coffee cake (does not contain coffee!).

I dare say that Elisa will be popping in at the Holehouse residence from time to time for cake.

Enjoy!

Apple Pie Muffins

I hear that congratulations are in order for Mathieu and his wife who are expecting.

The lucky blogger this week is Mathieu as he mentioned that his favourite was Apple Pie Muffins (note Mathieu that these are to be SHARED!).

So, who is going to be the lucky blogger next week?

Enjoy!

Chocolate Orange Bundt Cake

Friday seems to roll around all too quickly in some respects.

As Alex was not afraid to make a comment on the blog and mentioned that he preferred chocolate and citrus, this week I present for your enjoyment a Chocolate Orange Bundt Cake.  It obviously pays to leave me a comment and let me know which are your favourites!  Of course, it never hurts to butter up the cook (I still remember the flowers, thanks Alex!).

Banana cake with pecan crumble crunch

Due to the fact that Nigel  was out of this office last week, is going to be out of the office on Friday and away for the next two weeks, a verbal request was submitted to have the cake a day early. I can only assume that you are feeling deprived!

As is often the case I have and excess of ripe bananas (as the Big Monkey was not home to eat them last week!) so the cake is a Banana cake with pecan crumble crunch (another new recipe for you to try).

Enjoy!

Banana-Pecan Chocolate Chunk Cookies

I actually was not going to Post today but, Nigel said that some of you had mentioned about commenting.  Today's cookies were Banana-Pecan Chocolate Chunk Cookies.

I bought a new cookery book (it contains 175 recipes for cookies), so along with James and Laura you will be the testers of any of the cookies (as with the recipe today and many of the cakes).

2008 The Cake Lady returns

This week normal cake service has resumed after Nigel being absent from the office for the past 3 Fridays. The first cake of February is a Cinnamon Toast Coffee Cake, let me know what you think. I like to try a different recipe each week but, of course, don't mind an encore presentation.

If you have any requests it is a good idea to get them in quickly as Nigel is going to be absent from the office (again!) for the last two Fridays of the month.

Enjoy this week's cake and do stop by the blog and click on my cookie crumbs!

Lemon Yogurt Crumble Cake

Don't be disappointed, Nigel will be there with this week's cake, a Lemon Yogurt Crumble Cake.

If you have not commented on the blog because you do not know how, ask one of the handful who have previously blogged.

Enjoy the cake on this miserable looking Friday and do send a comment (not via Nigel, but via the blog ''ratemycake.blogspot.com''.
