Glazed Lemon Cake

As this week is the construction holiday I did not know whether I would bake but as usual many are still working and so I have made one the perennial favourites, Glazed Lemon Cake.

Blueberry Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Icing

Cake baking was planned for yesterday afternoon but had to wait until after 5 p.m.  As I was about to start, due to the thunderstorm, we lost power for several hours.

This week, I am trying out a recipe I have not baked before and using you as the guinea pigs (is it to stay in the rotation), Blueberry Banana Cake with Cream Cheese Icing.  Both the cake and the icing contain a small amount of rum which is spiced as that is what I had.

Blueberry Yogurt Pound Cake

Usually, other than the usual suspects, the ingredients I have available (fruit) determine what kind of cake I make.  This week it was blueberries so I have made a Blueberry Yogurt Pound Cake in the usual 9" x 13" format instead of a bundt.  I also added a little orange liqueur as I did not have enough orange juice.

Vanilla Cake with Chocolate Buttercream

It has been several weeks since the last entry due to work related travel.  Now I am back baking, although the weather is really a little too warm to heat the oven, but that doesn't stop me.

This week I have made a Vanilla Cake and topped it with a Chocolate Buttercream.
